Basic communications in Cantonese is not hard to attain even if your mother tongue is non-Sinitic. Every year, thousands of domestic workers --- mother tongue being Bahasa Indonesia or Tagalog --- learn enough Cantonese to start work in Hong Kong, and gain further proficiency through immersion. Latter Day Saints (Mormon) missionaries start their missions with only three months of training.

comprehensible input
output that is

- repeated
- multimodal, with
- timely specific feedback

The courses are designed to provide structure and resources for adult learners, who speaks English (but not Mandarin), and cannot attend intensive immersion studies, to attain basic Cantonese oral proficiency.
